JoAnne S. Bass

JoAnne S. Bass made history as the first female Chief Master Sergeant of the Air Force, the highest-ranking enlisted member.

In this role, she served as the personal advisor to the Chief of Staff, providing guidance on the welfare, readiness, and morale of the over 400,000 active duty, Guard, Reserve, and civilian forces.
